Book Covers

Find Out Why: This is a program that was developed by FranklinCovey with Clayton Christensen. It is a great program that I highly recommend you check out. Above are some preliminary ideas that I came up with for the participant guide. The idea behind successful innovation is discovering the “Job to Be Done.” And that is always a question. So, I used minimalist design and strong color to illustrate this question mark. Either a lightbulb of idea or the intersection of two thoughts creating a whole new idea.

Unleashed Talent: A preliminary mockup for the Unleashing Talent book. I liked the tagline: To ignite the unlimited potential of people. Hence, the flammable sign. Check out the real book.

Get Better: A preliminary idea for a book from FranklinCovey. My thinking behind the decoder glasses was that sometimes it takes a shift in your viewpoint to change your actions. Check out the real book.

Winning Culture in Government: A preliminary mockup of a cover for the government team. Check out the real one here. The tagline: “The Ultimate Mission Essential,” inspired me to recreate a WWII-esque poster/government document.

My Smile is My Super Power: This is a preliminary mockup for the book titled, “My Smile is My Superpower,” by Glenn Stucki. You can buy his real book here. His story is amazing and I highly recommend you read up about him. I took the idea of a map and journey and used Glenn’s drawings as pinpoints along the way. I then created a bold, superhero smile out of the title.

Fierce Loyalty: Overall a lot of iterations; some good, some bad. None chosen. See the final one they selected from another designer.

The 10 Laws of Trust: This project was put on hold and I don’t think Joel moved forward with selecting a cover. But it was fun to explore watercolor backgrounds!
